TRIBAL ENTERPRISE

NATIVE 8(a) PROGRAM BENEFITS

Makwa Global, LLC has a portfolio of companies that are SBA 8(a) Certified Tribal Enterprises, participating in the Native 8(a) Program.  The Native 8(a) contracting program in the Small Business Administration, permits enterprises owned by Federal Recognized Tribes, Alaska Native Corporation, and Native Hawaiian Organizations(Collectively “Native Enterprises”) and certified under Section 8(a) of the Act to enter the government’s business development program as a path toward economic success and self-sufficiency.

The benefit of the Native 8(a) contracting program is that it enables government contracting officers and program managers to avoid complex, endless procurement cycles. By employing the Native 8(a) contracting method, government contracting officers can readily access the skills and expertise of Makwa Global, LLC and companies with:

  • Faster Procurement Cycles with Decreased Costs
  • Granted US SBA Preferential access to Government Agency Procurements. Annually, the Federal Government aims to award a minimum of 5% of all federal contracting dollars to certified small businesses. Consistently, the SBA's small business contracting goals have been met and exceeded. Federal prime contracts awarded to small businesses totaled a record-breaking $120 billion in 2019; an increase from the previous year of almost $15 billion. Learn more
  • Sole-source non-competitive contracts* are just one of the many opportunities granted to an agency when contracting our Tribal 8(a) Enterprises. Learn more
  • Reduced Red Tape in Federal Contracting. Burdensome restrictions, usually synonymous with federal contracting, are reduced through our SBA 8(a) benefits.
  • Direct Award Contracting enables agencies to engage with us in direct buy contracts as part of this SBA contracting method.
  • Fair Price Contracts. The reduction in procurement process and time to award an 8(a) sole source contract results in lowered administrative costs. Agencies working with us can rest assured that pricing and services reflect the best value possible.
  • Limited Competition. Participating with us in the SBA Native 8(a) Program means your agency has fewer businesses to compete with to win a government contract.
  • Joint Ventures and Teaming. Because we are an SBA 8(a) certified small business, large businesses increase competitiveness and access to small business contracts by teaming with us. A joint venture of two or more small businesses qualifies for small business set-aside contracts if documentation still meets SBA requirements. Learn more
  • Mentor Protégé Programs
  • Expedited Award

*Tribal Enterprises have additional privileges and may receive a sole source contract up to $25 million, and up to $100 million for DoD contracts, without J&A.  Other 8(a) companies can only receive sole source awards up to $4 million ($6.5 million for manufacturing).
